You Were Once Just A Butt Hole

It's true. When you were an embryo, the first opening that developed was your anus. That means you're a deuterostome — basically a sea urchin.

But that's not all. Did you know that when your heart stops your brain actually knows that you are dead? If that wasn't creepy enough, a study found that those who were pronounced dead but later were resuscitated had memories of the event 46% of the time. And 2% could recall 'seeing' and 'hearing' events that could be corroborated with hospital doctors and nurses.

Another interesting fact is that when you're stressed, your blood thickens as a response to risk. Similar to the way blood clots form when you are physically injured. But if you do get cut, you'll have better luck fighting the injury during the daytime because your cells work harder to repair during the day than at night. This is because cells have their own circadian rhythm.

And FYI we don't have only five senses. Although scientists can't agree on the total amount, they do agree that there are more than five. Who knows, maybe spidey senses are real! Get more amazing facts in our latest video featuring Christine Sydelko.
